At sea (clocks forward)
Wednesday 29th November
I
did not sleep well at all in the early part of the evening, in spite of taking
a sleeping tablet. I woke at 9 but decided there was no reason to get up and
managed to get back to sleep until nearly 11. I knew from the past that
breakfast was served in one half of the Lido until 11.30. I went along and
discovered that things have changed and both sides close at 11 to prepare for
lunch at 11.30. Fortunately a friendly waiter saw my confusion and brought me a
huge plate of fruit.
It
was a bit of a slow day, just rediscovering the ship, settling in, trying
afternoon tea and so on.
The
dance class was at 5pm, so that meant I needed to get ready for the evening at
4.30 as I wanted to go to watch the class and talk to Dan. Vi turned up to
watch the class and I went through the steps with her on the carpet.
At
dinner there were two people missing. When I saw them in the ballroom later I
discovered that they had both changed tables. My suspicion is that they were
rather annoyed with each other, as they had had words the night before, and so had both moved to get away from the
other. Of course, during the dinner we did not know what had happened. Catherine and I spent a lot of time speculating. We decided we had enough
material from our ideas for not just a novel but rather a trilogy. Then we
started planning the reality TV shows we could organise – the struggles on the
dance floor to get a good Dance Host and also the Laundry Wars that everyone
talks about.
Catherine
joined me in the ballroom for part of the time, to see what was going on. Other friends came and went, depending on quiz times, etc. I had about 4 dances with Roy (Dance Host) in
the late session. My delight was the tango and also the paso doble, which is very rarely danced. He has a
very strong lead and I felt as though I could dance both of them dramatically. I
stayed until the dance closed at
midnight.
