Back home

Friday 8th December

The last morning is always an anti-climax. I gave myself enough time to get to the restaurant for breakfast, the one and only time I had managed it all cruise. Unfortunately I was at the same table with the woman who had left our dining group after the first night. She spent a lot of time complaining about the slow service instead of being thankful that they allowed us to relax over our breakfast when we had arrived quite late and the service was closed to newcomers by then.

I collected my hand luggage from my room and decided to disembark immediately. I could have left earlier, as per my official time, but I had decided there was no hurry and I preferred to take my time. That worked well.

The car was waiting for me and I set off. My journey home was not straightforward. For some unknown reason (tiredness? lack of concentration?) I missed a few turnings where signage was not clear and the SatNav’s instructions had not quite helped. There was nothing major so it probably only delayed me by 10 minutes but it was puzzling. I've driven from Southampton before and never had those problems.

Once home I was faced with unpacking, washing, ironing, sorting, etc. The bulk of this was done by the next day, though it took me two months to getting around to writing my blog.
